Diplomats Picked No. 2 in Preseason Poll; Pritchard DIII POY

The 2007 NCAA Division III National Champions and 2008 Runners Up Franklin & Marshall women’s lacrosse team are ranked No. 2 in the 2009 Lacrosse Magazine preseason poll. Senior attacker Jen Pritchard was named Preseason Player of the Year for the second time in her career. (more)

Women's Basketball Falls in Championship Game

April Sparkman posted a double-double with a game-high 14 points and 10 rebounds, while Chanel Perez also added 14 points to lead York over Franklin & Marshall 68-45 in the championship game of the 2009 Hampton Inn Coaches vs. Cancer Classic on Sunday. (more)

Scovill Drains Game-Winning Basket For Sponaugle Title

Clay Scovill scored the game-winning fast-break layup with 0.7 seconds left to help the Franklin & Marshall men’s basketball team capture its second straight Woodrow S.W. Sponaugle New Year’s Tournament title with a 81-79 over Susquehanna on Saturday night. (more)

Diplomat Grapplers Gain Season’s First Win

It wasn’t on the schedule, but Pete Schuyler’s squad came away from the match at Penn with win over Gloucester on Saturday. The Diplomats (1-5) swept the final five bouts for a 30-19 win over the Roadrunners (3-2). (more)

Quakers Shakedown Diplomats

Penn used three pins and three technical falls in handing Franklin & Marshall a 49-0 setback in Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association (EIWA) action on Saturday. The win was the Quakers’ (2-1, 2-0 EIWA) second shutout of an EIWA opponent in as many matches. The Diplomats fell to 0-6 (0-3 EIWA). (more)

Franklin & Marshall and The College of New Jersey were neck and neck throughout the game, playing down to the wire with the Diplomats coming out on top for their eighth straight win by defeating the Lions 78-74 in the first round of the Woodrow S.W.
