F&M Releases Fall 2017 Schedules

2017 Schedules: Field Hockey | Football | Men's Soccer | Women's Soccer | Men's XC | Women's XC | Volleyball 

LANCASTER, Pa. - Schedules for Franklin & Marshall's fall athletic teams have been announced and are available for viewing at GoDiplomats.com. Click on the links above to access each team's 2017 slate of contests. 

Fans can utilize the "Add to Calendar" button, which allows the synchronization of new events and updates directly in their Google, Exchange, Yahoo, Outlook, Ical and additional calendars.  

Look for the icon below, which can be accessed at the top-right of all fall schedules when viewed on your computer, or bottom-left of all schedules on your mobile device. 

Fall schedules are subject to change before the start of the season. Check back with GoDiplomats.com for updates closer to the beginning of the school year. 

Field Hockey

The Diplomats open 2017 at home on Friday, Sept. 1 against Elizabethtown at 7:00 p.m. The Centennial Conference (CC) opener is slated for Saturday, Sept. 16 when F&M welcomes Muhlenberg to Tylus Field for a 12:00 p.m. contest.

CC Playoffs get underway with the First Round on Wednesday, Nov. 1, while the Final is scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 5. Fresh off of last year's NCAA Elite Eight appearance, the Diplomats will look to continue last season's success when the Tournament begins that following Wednesday (Nov. 8) with the First Round, while the National Championship is set for Sunday, Nov. 19.

Football

F&M's tradition of kicking off the regular season against Lebanon Valley continues for the fourth straight year when the Diplomats travel to Annville for a 1:00 p.m. showdown on Saturday, Sept. 2. The 2017 home and Centennial opener follows on Saturday, Sept. 9 with a 1:00 p.m. contest against Juniata.

Sponaugle-Williamson Field will be the site for the first three home games of the season before F&M moves across the street to the newly-minted, state-of-the-art, Shadek Stadium to close out the year. The inaugural game will occur Homecoming weekend when the Diplomats face Dickinson on Saturday, Oct. 21.

The regular season draws to a close on Saturday, Nov. 11 when F&M hosts Gettysburg for the annual Lincoln Trophy game at 1:00 p.m.

Men's Soccer

Men's soccer takes on Cal Luthern, in a game hosted by Alvernia, to begin the 2017 season on Friday, Sept. 1 at 4:00 p.m., before returning home the next day to battle Alvernia at 7:00 p.m. in Lancaster.

CC competition opens at home on Saturday, Sept. 16 with a 6:00 p.m contest against Muhlenberg, while the First Round of the Centennial Playoffs are set for Wednesday, Nov. 1 with the Championship on Sunday, Nov. 5. After reaching the NCAA Elite Eight last year, the Diplomats will look for a return to the Tournament which begins with the First Round on Saturday, Nov. 11 and culminates with the National Championship on Saturday, Dec. 2.

Women's Soccer

The Diplomats host a pair of 2016 NCAA Qualifiers on opening weekend to kick off 2017, welcoming Pacific Lutheran to Tylus Field on Friday, Sept. 1 at 4:00 p.m., before battling Stevens the next day at 1:00 p.m.

CC competition begins at home on Saturday, Sept. 16 against Muhlenberg at 3:00 p.m. Conference Playoffs open with the First Round on Wednesday, Nov. 1, with the CC Championship slated for Sunday, Nov. 5. 

Men's and Women's Cross County 

The men's and women's cross country teams open 2017 by hosting the annual Alumni 5K with Millersville at Baker Campus on Saturday, Sept. 2 at 6:30 p.m. The Little Three Meet takes place on Friday, Sept. 8 at 6:00 p.m. and will be hosted by Dickinson.

Gettysburg will host the CC Championships, which takes place on Sunday, Oct. 29 at 11:00 a.m, while the NCAA Mid-East Regionals are set for Saturday, Nov. 11 at 11:00 a.m. and are taking place at Big Spring High School in Newville, Pa. 

Volleyball

Volleyball begins its 2017 season at home against Elizabethtown on Friday, Sept. 1 at 7:00 p.m. as part of the Crosstown Crossover Tournament that sees the Diplomats also host a doubleheader at home the following day against Lancaster Bible (11:00 a.m.) and Messiah (1:30 p.m.).

F&M's non-conference slate is highlighted by the F&M Scramble Quad, which runs from Sept. 8-9 at the Mayser Center and will feature Lebanon Valley, Penn St.-Altoona, and York. Conference play opens on the road against Dickinson on Wednesday, Sept. 20 at 7:00 p.m., while CC Playoffs begin with the First Round on Wednesday, Nov. 1 and end with the CC Finals on Sunday, Nov. 5.

Additional Fall Competition

Several sports, which compete primarily in the spring, will participate in a number of tournaments and events for the fall portion of their schedule. Women's tennis takes part in the ITA Southeast Regional Championships, hosted by Mary Washington, beginning on Friday, Sept. 22. The men's tennis team will compete in the same event the following weekend and is also set to compete at the Mary Washington Doubles Invitational on Oct. 7-8.

Men's golf is prepared to compete in five invitationals in the fall, wrapping up action at the annual F&M Fall Invitational, set for Monday, Oct. 16 at Bent Creek Country Club in Lancaster. 

Currently, men's and women's rowing will take part in three regattas for the fall portion of their schedule, opening action at the Head of the Occoquan Regatta in Fairfax Station, Va. on Sunday, Oct.15 and ending with the Head of the Schuylkill Regatta in Philadelphia on Saturday, Oct. 28.
