F&M Rowing Welcomes Pair of Assistant Coaches to Staff

LANCASTER, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall head rowing coach Kendall Mulligan announced the additions of Caitlin McDonnell and Ellie Jones as assistant coaches for the upcoming 2017-18 season. McDonnell will serve as an assistant for the women's team, while Jones will fill the same role for the men's squad.

McDonnell was a four-year member of the Cornell University rowing program, graduating in 2015 as a double major in Geological Sciences and Economics. She competed at the 2012 Ivy League Championships in the Third Varsity 8+ boat that secured third place. Before F&M, McDonnell spent two years as a geophysicist in Houston, Texas where she rowed with the Greater Houston Rowing Club and served as a board member and treasurer of the organization. She won the Texas Rowing Championship Women's Master's AA-A 2X in 2017.

"I am thrilled to have Caitlin join the women's rowing staff this coming fall," said Mulligan. "As a former Division I athlete, her experience will elevate the program on and off the water and her enthusiasm and passion for the sport will, no doubt, be a great addition to the team as we continue to hone our championship culture."

Jones was a four-year member of the St. Lawrence rowing team, graduating in 2016 as a geology major. During her time at St. Lawrence, she served as the women's rowing program's representative on SAAC (Student-Athlete Advisory Committee). Before joining the F&M staff, Jones served as a coach at Westover School, helping to grow a relatively new program.

"I am also looking forward to Ellie joining our staff this fall," said Mulligan. "She has a unique perspective as a former Division III rower, granting her insight as to what our student-athletes experience on a daily basis. Her previous experience coaching new and experienced rowers will also be vital as we continue to develop the men's team into a highly competitive program."

The Diplomats open the fall portion of their schedule on Sunday, Oct. 15, traveling to Fairfax Station, Va. for the Occoquan Chase.
