LANCASTER, Pa. – A trio of Franklin & Marshall's postseason-eligible fall teams are set to take part in this week's Centennial Conference (CC) Playoffs.
Field hockey enters the tournament as the No. 2 seed and will travel to Johns Hopkins on Friday to battle No. 3 Ursinus in the Semifinals, men's soccer (No. 2) is slated to face No. 3 Gettysburg on Friday in a Semifinal game at Johns Hopkins, while volleyball (No. 4) will host No. 5 McDaniel in the First Round on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.
The Diplomats concluded their regular season with a 13-3, 9-1 CC record to earn the program's seventh straight tournament appearance, securing the No. 2 seed. F&M is in search of its first CC Title since 2012 with a 4-1 win over Haverford.
The NCAA First Round opens on Wednesday, Nov. 8 with the CC Champion earning the automatic bid into the field. The Second Round and Quarterfinals are set for Nov. 11-12, with the Semifinals and NCAA Championship slated for Nov. 18-19 in Louisville, Ky. Bracket information will be released Sunday evening (Nov. 5) at 11:30 p.m. following the completion of all conference tournaments and can be located here.
F&M makes a return to the CC Playoffs for the ninth consecutive year, the second-longest streak among CC institutions next to Hopkins' run of 16 straight appearances. The Diplomats are seeking their first CC Title since 2013 and enter the 2017 tournament as the No. 2 seed after ending the regular season with a 9-5-2, 7-1-1 CC record.
The CC Champion will earn an automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament, which begins its First and Second rounds on Nov. 11-12. The Sweet 16 and Quarterfinal rounds take place Nov. 18-19, with the Final Four and NCAA Final slated for Dec. 1-2 in Greensboro, N.C. The NCAA selection show will take place on Monday, Nov. 6 at 1:30 p.m. and can be viewed here.
Volleyball clinched a place in the Centennial Tournament for the 10th straight season, a streak that is unmatched among Conference opponents. F&M (16-11, 7-3 CC) is hosting its first tournament contest since 2013 as the No. 4 seed and are competing in the First Round for the fourth consecutive year.
The NCAA First and Second Rounds are slated for Nov. 10-11, with the Quarterfinals, Semifinals and Championship matches taking place from No. 16-18 in Grand Rapids, Mich. The tournament's field will be announced during the NCAA selection show on Monday, Nov. 6 at 12:30 p.m., which can be found here.
