Diplomats Explode in Second Half in Victory over McDaniel

LANCASTER, Pa. – Brandon Federici and Hunter Eggers combined for 46 points to lead Franklin & Marshall to a 70-47 victory over McDaniel in Centennial Conference (CC) action Saturday afternoon. The win is the seventh straight for F&M as the Diplomats improved to 14-5, 8-4 CC while the Green Terror fell to 9-10, 5-7 CC. 

F&M led 8-2 early in the game and a Matthew Tate three put the Diplomats ahead 11-4 at 14:19. McDaniel responded with a 12-2 run over the next six minutes and took a 16-13 edge with 8:34 remaining in the half. The Green Terror led 18-15 at 6:58, before the Diplomats outscored McDaniel 12-2 to take a 27-20 lead at 2:34. The teams exchanged points the remainder of the half and F&M took a 30-26 lead into the break. 

Eggers led all scorers in the opening frame with 11 points and Federici netted 10. 

The Diplomats hit another gear in the second and went on a 15-0 run to open the second half. McDaniel came within 16, 48-32, but the F&M answered with an 11-2 spurt and went up 59-34. F&M continued to dominate the remainder of the half, leading by at least 21 the rest of the game. 

Federici led all scorers with 24 points on 9-for-16 shooting and Eggers scored 22 with seven rebounds. Jared Wright scored seven, handed out six assists and recorded five steals. J.C. McGrath and Tate both finished with six. 

Austin Cannon was the only Green Terror in double-figures with 14 points. 

F&M outshot McDaniel 51-33-percent and converted 15 turnovers into 19 points. 

The Diplomats return to action on Wednesday when F&M travels to Ursinus for a 7:00 p.m. game.
