Series History: The Diplomats start out the week with a matchup against Johns Hopkins for the 101st meeting. F&M holds a 62-38 all-time record, including a 35-17 mark in CC action. The Blue Jays have won the previous two matches with a 70-57 victory earlier this season.
F&M travels to Washington on Saturday to face the Shoremen for the 64th time. The Diplomats lead 47-16 in the all-time series and hold a 32-10 advantage in CC play.
CC POTW: Brandon Federici was named the Centennial Conference (CC) Men's Basketball Player of the Week, announced by the league office on Monday afternoon. The honor was the second for Federici this year and the third for a member of the F&M team.
Federici averaged 28.0 points per game on 50 percent shooting from beyond the arc in a 1-1 week for the Diplomats. He made six triples for 22 points in a 94-82 loss at Ursinus, then followed that effort with a seven-trey, 34-point performance in an 80-63 win at Muhlenberg to match his career-high. Federici, who shot 48.6 percent from the field, made 13-of-26 shots from long range in the two games and also posted 2.5 assists and 2.5 steals per game.
Around the Conference: Brandon Federici leads the conference with 21.0 points per game and his 48 steals along with 76 triples this season also lead the CC. Matthew Tate is fifth at 3.3 assists per game and fifth with 32 steals. Ignas Slyka is third at 37 steals while Jared Wright sits in fourth with 34 steals. F&M is second at 75.5 points per game and second with a 45.4 field goal percentage.
Last Time We Met Hopkins: Johns Hopkins outscored Franklin & Marshall 28-7 in the final 10 minutes of action to defeat the Diplomats 70-57 earlier this season on on Dec. 7. Full Recap.
Hopkins used a strong bench performance as all three players in double-figures came off the bench for the Blue Jays. Michael Gardner led with 15, Nikhil Panu had 11 and Daniel Vila finished with 10.
McGrath finished with a double-double for the first time this season after shooting 6-for-9 from the floor. He also added six blocks to his line. Eggers led all scorers with 25, hitting 9-of-15 shots while Federici and Phelps both netted 11. Slyka was the fifth Diplomat in double-figures with 10 and Jared Wright ended the day with seven points and five assists.
F&M outshot Washington 54-40-percent and held a 40-32 edge on the glass.
