Diplomats Sweep Green Terror; Federici Has Scoring Record in Sight 

LANCASTER, Pa. — Franklin & Marshall picked up the season sweep over McDaniel with a 62-51 victory Saturday afternoon in Centennial Conference (CC) men's basketball action. The Diplomats improved to 16-3, 10-2 CC while the Green Terror dropped to 4-15, 1-11 CC.

F&M took an early 8-3 lead off a triple from Ignas Slyka, before the Green Terror went on an 11-4 run and took a 14-12 edge at 11:51. F&M outscored McDaniel 9-4 over the next five minutes and went out front 21-18, but the Green Terror countered with an 11-0 run and went ahead 29-21 with a little less than four minutes to go in the half. McDaniel stayed out front the remainder of the half and took a 35-25 lead into the break.

The Diplomats started out the second with a 13-5 run to come within two, 40-38, at 13:06, but McDaniel netted six straight to hold an eight-point lead at 11:33. F&M answered with an 11-0 run and went out front with a 49-46 lead at 6:48. A layup from Lionel Owona put F&M ahead for good at 4:49 and a bucket from Brandon Federici gave F&M a four-point cushion, 55-51, with 3:05 left to play.  F&M went 5-for-6 from the stripe down the stretch to secure the win.

Brandon Federici had a game-high 18 points on 8-for-19 shooting and finished with six rebounds and four steals. J.C. McGrath netted 16 with six rebounds and Ignas Slyka chipped in 14 for F&M.

Federici is now just 12 points away from resetting the school record of 1,932 career points set by Georgio Milligan '12.

F&M held a slight 45-43-percent edge in shooting and had a 32-21 advantage on the boards. 

The Diplomats return to action on Wednesday when F&M hosts Ursinus at 7:00 p.m.
