Varsity Men Finish Third

LEWISBERRY, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall’s men’s Varsity Eight raced to a third place finish behind Mary Washington and Washington College at the inaugural Mid-Atlantic Rowing Conference (MARC) Championships. 

The Diplomats defeated Johns Hopkins, who finished fourth. Rowing in the varsity 8 for the Diplomats were (from bow to coxswain) Ho Hong Lau, Nick Ferra, Aaron Hodes, William Riegel, Daniel Falciani, Patrick Maloney, Brent Schneider, Conor Borak and coxswain Kevin Brown. 

In the men’s novice four event, F&M’s crew of Greg Hershman, Kyle Rothman, Clement Chu, Chris Virunurm and coxswain Juan Pitarque rowed to a bronze medal finish behind Washington College and Mary Washington. The Diplomats defeated Johns Hopkins and Richard Stockton.

Together the two men’s teams combined to finish 3rd in the overall point standing

The league announced its first All-Conference and Academic Honor Roll as part of the day’s festivities. Daniel Falciani and Patrick Maloney were named All-Conference. Aaron Hodes and Brent Schneider were named to the Academic Honor Roll. To qualify, student-athletes must a) have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.5, b) be in their second, third, or fourth year of eligibility, AND c) must have competed in 75% of the varsity competitions or competed in the MARC Championships.
