Diplomats place Third in the River Cup
The Franklin & Marshall men’s varsity rowers raced twice
this weekend. The varsity eight broke into two four oared crews and
finished second of out three teams and fourth out of four teams in
each of their respective events. Rowing in the “B” boat
were (bow to cox) Ho Hong Lau, Will Riegel, Brent Schneider, Nick
Ferra and cox Juan Pitarque. In a separate race the “A”
boat which finished fourth was comprised of (bow to cox) Aaron
Hodes, Patrick Maloney, Daniel Falciani, Conor Borak and cox Kevin
Brown.
Both boats combined under the leadership of coxswain Kevin Brown
to row in the Varsity eight race and finished fourth of four
entries. Penn State won the event in 5.24 followed by Lehigh
University, Lafayette and F&M. The Dips narrowed their margin
of defeat since their prior race with Lehigh, two weeks ago by 15
seconds.
In the Men’s Novice 4 event, Franklin and Marshall’s
rowers finished third of four crew teams, behind winner Lehigh
University and second place Lafayette University. The Diplomats
defeated Penn State. F&M’s novice four was comprised of
Greg Hershman, Kyle Rothman, Clement Hsu, Chris Virunurm and
coxswain Juan Pitarque.
Both men’s crews compete at the Mid Atlantic Rowing
Conference Championships on Saturday April 25th in Gifford Pinchot
State Park, near York, PA.
