Diplomats Place Two in Finals

LEWISBERRY, Pa. - Franklin & Marshall men's rowing hosted the 2012 Neuweiler Plate Regatta today at Gifford Pinchot State Park. This is the fourth year the Diplomats have participated in the regatta and the second consecutive year that F&M has hosted it. This year's races involved nine teams, Lafayette, Lehigh, Penn State, Mercyhurst, Philadelphia University, Robert Morris University, Rutgers-Camden and Villanova.

The Diplomats advanced two boats out of their heats the Varsity 4+ and the Freshman/Novice 8+. In the Varsity 4+ boat of Felipe Barron-cox, Clement Hsu-stroke, Connor Ten Cate, David Kaess and Wade Stanley placed second in their heat, earning them a spot in the five-boat final. F&M placed second in the final with a time of 6:47.85, behind winner Penn State, who clocked 6:42.94.

The Freshman/Novice 8+ of Julia Scavicchio-cox, John Ancona-stroke, Sam Alter, Tim Smith, Jeremy Hsu, Roger Matias, Kevin Stewart, Chris Bruno, and Ryan Sukley also advanced out their heat. F&M finished fifth in the six-boat final with a time of 7:04.73.

The Diplomats will be back in the water on Saturday when F&M competes against Villanova, Washington College, Philadelphia University. Race time is TBA.
