Men’s Rowing Battles at Head of the Schuylkill

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall's men's rowing team competed at the Head of the Schuylkill Regatta in Philadelphia on Saturday. The Diplomats had four boats take part in the event. 

In the Championship Pair race, a duo of James Nelson and Sean Hyland teamed up for a third-place showing out of eight boats with a time of 16:20.031. 

The Diplomats' First Varsity 8+ boat of Tamir Shemesh (coxswain), Jonathan Munro, Aidan Molloy, Craig Fanto, Javier Ricardo, Ben Carroll, Garrett White, Calvin Coffeen and Trexler Hirn secured a 35th-place finish out of 48 teams with a time of 15:33.123. 

Also competing in that race was F&M's Second Varsity 8+ boat of Ryan Paulekas (coxswain), Joel Cannon, Pierce Lawlor, Liam Chan Hodges, Sam Parsons, Aditya Chawla, Chris Howe-Smith, Brandon Schneider and Ngoun Lay who placed 46th with a time of 17:21. 203. A boat from the University of Pennsylvania crossed the line first at 13:21.424. 

Maude Collins (coxswain), Steven Nicodemo, Lukas Grattan, Dylan Smith, Pablo Portela-Lomba, Giuseppe Inglima, Nicolas Poitrenaud, Minh Nguyen, and Stuart Cattel teamed up in the Novice 8+ boat for F&M, taking 34th out of 36 competitors in their race after finishing at 18:34.466. 

The Diplomats close out the fall portion of their schedule next Saturday by traveling to Fairfax, Va. to compete at the Head of the Occoquan Regatta.
