F&M Battles at Cayuga Duals

ITHACA, N.Y. – Franklin & Marshall's men's rowing team continued its 2017 spring campaign on Saturday by competing at the Cayuga Duals, hosted by Ithaca College.

The Varsity 8+ boat of Tamir Shemesh (coxswain), James Nelson (8), Aidan Molloy (7), Craig Fanto (6), Dylan Smith (5), Jonathan Munro (4), Trexler Hirn (3), Joel Cannon (2), Brandon Schneider (1) competed in two duals on the day, going head-to-head with boats from Mercyhurst and Ithaca.

Mercyhurst came out in front with a time of 6:35.1 to the Diplomats' 7:04.1 in the first race of the afternoon. Later in the day, the Varsity 8+ boat fell short to Ithaca who finished at 6:44.8, compared to the Diplomats' time of 7:16.9. 

F&M's Second Varsity 8+ boat (Emilie MacDonald (coxswain), Calvin Coffeen (8), Lukas Grattan (7), Sam Parsons (6), Stuart Cattel (5), Ben Carroll (4), Chris Howe-Smith (3), Ngoun Lay (2) and Giuseppe Inglima (1)) also competed in a pair of duals against Cornell's Fourth Varsity 8+ boat and Mercyhurst. 

Against Cornell, the Diplomats finished at 7:52.2 while the Big Red was first at 6:41.8. Later in the day, F&M rowed to a time of 7:54.0, but was unable to catch Mercyhurst (6:48.4).

The Diplomats are back in action tomorrow, traveling to Hamilton College to take on the Continentals, as well as Skidmore.
