Diplomats Provide Strong Showing Against Hamilton, Skidmore

ROME, N.Y. – Franklin & Marshall's men's rowing team registered a pair of second-place showings out of three races against boats from Hamilton and Skidmore on Sunday on the Erie Canal.

The Results

In the Varsity 8+ race, the Diplomats' first boat of Tamir Shemesh (coxswain), James Nelson (8), Aidan Molloy (7), Craig Fanto (6), Dylan Smith (5), Jonathan Munro (4), Trexler Hirn (3), Joel Cannon (2), Brandon Schneider (1) came in second at 7:34.1. Hamilton placed first with a time of 7:08.7 with Skidmore in third at 7:43.6. 

F&M's second Varsity 8+ boat of Emilie MacDonald (coxswain), Calvin Coffeen (8), Lukas Grattan (7), Sam Parsons (6), Stuart Cattel (5), Ben Carroll (4), Chris Howe-Smith (3), Ngoun Lay (2) and Giuseppe Inglima (1) earned second with a time of 8:09.0. Hamilton was first at 7:35.3 

A Diplomat boat also took part in the Varsity 4+ event, finishing the race in third with a time of 8:46.5. Skidmore won the event at 8:08.1.

The Conditions 

The course was 2,000-m upstream with a mild current; the headwind was registered at 8-11 miles per hour.
