Men’s Rowing Concludes Competition at Knecht Cup

WEST WINDSOR, N.J. – A Varsity 4+ boat advanced to the DII/DIII final and placed sixth to lead Franklin & Marshall's men's rowing team at day one of the Knecht Cup in New Jersey on Saturday.

In the DII/DIII Varsity 4+ event, a Diplomat boat of Tamir Shemesh (coxswain), Aidan Molloy (4), Sean Hyland (3), James Jarvis (2) and Harris Karlin (1) advanced out of its opening heat with a time of 7:32.60 to earn a spot in the finals. F&M followed with a sixth-place showing out of seven boats and a time of 7:29.54. Bowdoin won the event at 7:02.70.

The Diplomats' Second Varsity 4+ boat of Meredith Cooney (coxswain), Ben Carroll (4), Brandon Schneider (3), Joel Cannon (2) and Trexler Hirn (1) also took to the water on Saturday, placing fourth out of five competitors with a time of 7:26.30. George Mason won the event at 7:05.03. 

F&M's Novice 4+ boat of Zerubabbel Asfaw (coxswain), Christian Jones (4), Muhammad Ahmed (3), Christian Corrigan (2) and Mark Marotta (1) were unable to advance out of their opening heat, finishing with a time of 8:21.94. 

Day two of the Knecht Cup on Sunday was canceled due to high winds. F&M returns to competition on Saturday, April 28 at the Mid-Atlantic Rowing Conference (MARC) Championships in Lewisberry.
