Gregory Named Centennial Player of the Week

LANCASTER, Pa. – James Gregory was named the Centennial Conference’s Defensive Player of the Week on Sunday, following his three takeaway performance in Saturday’s 51-13 mauling of the Bears from Ursinus.

F&M recorded six turnovers in the win with Gregory accounting for half of them. He picked off two passes and recovered a fumble. All three of his takeaways yielded scoring drives for F&M, helping the Diplomats to their largest margin of victory in two years. The Diplomats limited Ursinus to three conversions on 12 third downs and shut the Bears down on both of their fourth down attempts in the game.

The Player of the Week honor is the first for Gregory, a two-time All-Centennial Conference and Centennial Academic Honor Roll selection. He was named to the Weekly Honor Roll following the Moravian contest in 2007. The Diplomats will travel to Bethlehem to face Moravian this week.

Franklin & Marshall is now 3-2 on the season with a 2-1 mark in Centennial Conference play. All three of F&M’s wins have come at home, where the Diplomats have surrendered just 13 points in 12 quarters, all against Ursinus. The Diplomats embark on a two game road trip into the Lehigh Valley facing Moravian this Saturday. F&M will face Muhlenberg in two Saturdays.
