LANCASTER, Pa. - Franklin & Marshall freshman Jarrell Diggs wasted little time in making his mark on the collegiate grid circuit. The Diplomats' return specialist was named the Centennial Conference Special Teams Player of the Week, an honor he shared with Moravian's Brian Reckenbeil.
Diggs racked up 85 punt return yards, including a 49-yard touchdown during F&M's 24-0 win over Washington & Lee. The touchdown return was F&M's first punt return for a touchdown since 2002. Diggs averaged 17.0 yards on his five returns in the contest. Reckenbeil booted a pair of field goals, including a Moravian-record 47-yarder, vs. Susquehanna.
F&M's Lewie Briggs and John Kaschak were named to the Conference's Weekly Honor Roll. Briggs, a converted fullback, made five solo tackles and forced two fumbles from his spot on the defensive line. Kaschak, a freshman running back topped the 100-yard mark in his collegiate debut. He scored a one-yard touchdown.
The Diplomats opened the season at 1-0, and returns to action on Saturday at Catholic University.
