LANCASTER, Pa. - Following an 8-2 regular season, Franklin & Marshall's football team has been awarded a postseason bid. The Diplomats will host Wilkes University in the ECAC South Atlantic Bowl this Saturday. Kickoff is slated for noon.
Wilkes comes to Lancaster with a 6-4 record and wins in three of their last four games. The teams shared only one common opponent this season, Muhlenberg. Wilkes opened the season with a 14-12 win over the Mules. F&M posted a 20-7 win during a torrential downpour on Homecoming Saturday.
Saturday's game with Wilkes will mark the seventh ECAC bowl game appearance for the Diplomats. F&M is 3-3 in ECAC Bowl games. The contest with Wilkes also marks the Diplomats first postseason appearance since the 2005 season.
Overall, twelve teams have been selected to participate in the six ECAC Division III Football Bowl Championship games.
Other south region games include Kean (8-2) hosting Ursinus (6-4) in the ECAC Southeast Bowl Championship game. Salisbury University (5-5) will travel to host Lebanon Valley (8-2) in the ECAC Southwest Bowl Championship game.
In the ECAC Northeast Bowl Championship, Plymouth State (8-2) will travel to Massachusetts to take on Springfield (7-2). Also in the north region, Union (7-3) will host Hartwick (5-4) in the ECAC North Atlantic Bowl Championship game. In the ECAC Northwest Bowl Championship, St. John Fisher (6-3) was selected to host Cortland State (7-3).
