LANCASTER, Pa. -- Franklin & Marshall senior, George Eager, (Lititz, PA / Manheim Twp.), was named the Centennial Conference Special Teams Player of the Week. He is the third Diplomat (2-1) to earn a Player of the Week honor in as many weeks.
Eager returned three kicks for 127 yards (42.3 avg.) and a touchdown in the Diplomats' 45-43 loss to Dickinson (3-0). His 80-yard touchdown return marks the second time in as many years he returned a kickoff for a score against the Red Devils. He joins inside linebacker, Sam Massaro (Old Tappan, N.J. / Northern Valley Old Tappan, and quarterback, John Harrison (Flourtown, Pa. / La Salle College H.S.), as Diplomats honored by the Centennial this season.
Eager's touchdown makes him the first Diplomat return man to take two score twice on a kickoff return in his career. He is six yards away from becoming the sixth Diplomat with 3,000 career all-purpose yards.
The F&M senior shared the honor with Chase Nadell of Muhlenberg. Nadell returned the second-half kickoff 87 yards for the go-ahead touchdown in the Mules' 17-7 win over #22 Union.
Wide receiver, Jay Ridinger (Lititz, Pa. / Manheim Twp.), was named to the Centennial's Weekly Honor Roll on offense. He caught six passes for 115 yards (19.2 ypr) for and a touchdown in the Diplomats loss to Dickinson. Ridinger passed the 1,000-yard plateau for his career. He now ranks 18th in career receiving yards. He also moved into 14th in career receptions (86), and is five catches away from overtaking tenth on the career chart.
Massaro was named to the Centennial's Weekly Honor Roll on defense. The week one Player of the Week posted 12 tackles, two for losses, including a sack.
Franklin & Marshall returns to action on Saturday at Juniata (0-3). Kickoff in Huntingdon is set for 1:00 p.m. The Diplomats then move into the bye week.
