LANCASTER, Pa. - For the third time this season, Franklin & Marshall senior, George Eager (Lititz, Pa. / Manheim Twp.) was named Centennial Conference Player of the Week. Eager was named the Special Teams Player of the week after cashing in on his only kickoff return in the 29-13 win over Moravian. Eager sprinted 80 yards to pay dirt for his second 80-yard touchdown return of the season and the third touchdown return of his career.
Eager was previously named the Centennial Special Teams Player of the Week after an 80-yard kickoff return against Dickinson. He had returned a touchdown against Dickinson 365 days prior. Eager was named the Centennial Conference's Offensive Player of the Week for his efforts at receiver in the win at Juniata.
Franklin & Marshall has had one player named Player of the Week in one of three phases of the game in five of the six weeks the Diplomats have played this season. The Diplomats are off to a 5-1 start, the best opening to a season since the 9-1 campaign in 1996.
Inside linebacker, Sam Massaro (Fr. / Old Tappan, N.J. / Northern Valley Old Tappan), was named to the Centennial's Weekly Honor Roll. He recorded 11 tackles, seven solo, including one for a loss and intercepted a pass that sealed F&M's 29-13 win over Moravian. The freshman has now been recognized by the Conference three times this season. He was previously named the Defensive Player of the week and made an appearance on the weekly honor roll.
Wide receiver, Jay Ridinger (Jr. / Lititz, Pa./Manheim Twp.), caught five passes for 46 yards and two touchdowns in F&M's 29-13 win over Moravian. He was named to the Centennial's Weekly Honor Roll for the second time this season.
At 5-1 with a record of 3-1 in league play, F&M is in the thick of the hunt for the Conference crown. The Diplomats return to action on Saturday against Muhlenberg for Homecoming 2009. Kickoff is set for 1:30 p.m.
