LANCASTER, Pa. – Freshman kicker, Chris DeStefano (Berwyn, Pa. / Conestoga), was named the Centennial Conference's Special Teams Player of the Week in the wake of Franklin & Marshall's 31-28 homecoming win over McDaniel.
DeStefano booted a pair of field goals in the final four minutes, the latter delivering the win with seven seconds remaining. DeStefano's first field goal of the game, a 37-yard boot, tied the game at 28-28 with 3:57 remaining. It was the Diplomats first field goal from beyond 35 yards since 2007.
The honor is the first of DeStefano's career and marks the second time in as many weeks that Franklin & Marshall produced the Special Teams Player of the Week. Sam Massaro (Berwyn, Pa. / Conestoga) took the honor last week after blocking a punt and recovering it for the go-ahead score in the win at Muhlenberg.
Franklin & Marshall is 6-2 on the season with a 5-2 mark in the CC.
