Franklin & Marshall quarterback, John Harrison
(Flourtown, Pa. / La Salle College High School), was named
the Centennial Conference’s Co-Offensive Player of the Week.
The junior completed 24-of-31 passes for 305 yards and three
touchdowns during the Diplomats’ 35-7 win over Washington
The Player of the Week honor is the third of Harrison’s career, while the 300-plus yard passing effort was the sixth of his career. He was named the Centennial’s Offensive Player of the Week twice in 2009. All five of his previous 300-yard performances came in 2009 as well. It was also the 10th game of Harrison’s career that he finished with three or more touchdown passes. He needs three more touchdown tosses to match the F&M career mark of 52 owned by Joe Coviello who threw 52 touchdowns between 1973 and 1976.
Harrison shared the honor with Gettysburg’s Kyle Whitmoyer. Making his first collegiate start, Whitmoyer rushed for 130 yards and three touchdown on 12 carries while throwing for 114 yards on 11-of-16 passing as Gettysburg defeated Lebanon Valley 42-28. Whitmoyer scored the game's opening touchdown with a 77-yard run, then added scoring scampers of 25 and 2 yards.
The Diplomats return to action on Saturday against Ursinus. The Centennial season opener for both teams kicks off at 1:00 p.m.
