LANCASTER, Pa. - Franklin & Marshall claimed the second spot in the 2013 Centennial Conference (CC) Preseason Poll while Johns Hopkins was picked as the preseason favorite in a poll of head coaches and athletic communication directors.
The Blue Jays, who won their seventh Centennial title last year, picked up 17 of a possible 20 first-place votes for 161 points. F&M was second in the balloting with three first-place nods and 139 points, while Ursinus was slotted for the No. 3 position with 122 points.
Muhlenberg (120) and Gettysburg (98) rounded out the top five, while Susquehanna (86), Juniata (57), Dickinson (54), Moravian (39) and McDaniel (24) followed in the poll.
The Centennial preseason poll has predicted the conference champion in 13 of the last 15 years, including five in a row.

F&M finished last season with a 7-4 mark that included a win over CC champion Johns Hopkins and return 29 lettermen for the 2013 campaign. The Diplomats open the season at Washington & Lee on Sept. 7 at 1:00 p.m. before returning home on Sept. 14 for a 1:00 p.m. contest with CC foe Muhlenberg.
