LANCASTER, Pa. — Franklin & Marshall senior running back Taalib Gerald was named the Centennial Conference (CC) Offensive Player of the Week announced on Sunday. The honor is first for Gerald this season and the sixth for a member of the F&M team.
Gerald carried 32 times for 139 yards and scored three touchdowns as Franklin & Marshall won the Centennial title for the first time since 2004 with a 51-21 win against Gettysburg. He set the school career rushing TD record with 30. The record was previously held by Keith Wert '78 with 28.
The Diplomats tied Johns Hopkins for the championship, but the Blue Jays will receive the CC automatic berth to the NCAA because of their victory over F&M earlier this season. F&M still has a chance for an at-large bid, but if that does not happen, the Diplomats will host Widener at Shadek Stadium on Saturday in the CC-MAC Bowl. Details will be available Monday morning at GoDiplomats.com.
