Diplomats Win Spring Opener
HARRISBURG, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall's men's golf team won the Dickinson Spring Invitational to open its 2012 spring season Wednesday afternoon. The Diplomats finished first with a fifth-score tiebreaker with McDaniel in a field of seven teams. The Green Terrors' Greg Bowman needed three extra holes to win the tournament over Brendan Mohler on the par 72, 6,615-yard circuit.
Mohler's score of 74 placed him second to help lead F&M to the victory. Cameron Warner shot a 76 to tie for fourth place, while Danny Liebowitz and Kevin Goserud both carded 79's on the day.
With F&M and McDaniel tied at 308 after the first four scores, the team champion was determined based on each squads No. 5 golfer. Bobby Svigals earned an 82 to lock up the invitational for F&M by one stroke over the Green Terrors' Kyle Chittim, who shot an 83.
The Diplomats return to action on Sunday, April 1st as F&M competes at the Quaker Invitational hosted by the University of Pennsylvania.
