Four Diplomats Earn All-Centennial Honors
LANCASTER, Pa. – Four members of Franklin & Marshall's men's lacrosse team were named to the 2012 All-Centennial Conference Team when it was announced on Thursday. Andrew Setian and Jimmy Wenk were named to the First Team while Colin McKew and Freddy Schweizer landed on the Second Team. The team is voted on by coaches in the Centennial Conference (CC).
Setian (Williamsburg, Va./Walsingham Academy) became just the 23rd player in conference history to earn First Team honors three times. The faceoff specialist won 183 of 278 (.658) faceoffs he took in 2012, including 94 of 151 (.623) in conference play. He collected a team-high 97 groundballs and tallied two goals this season. The senior finishes his career as the all-time leader in groundballs (232) and ranks second in faceoff percentage, winning 510 of 833 (.612).
Wenk (Manhasset, N.Y./Manhasset) is making his way onto the All-CC Team for the second time in his career, earning honorable mention last season. The senior tallied 23 goals and assisted on five more to go with 22 groundballs.
McKew (Glen Arm, Md./Loyola-Blakefield) had a team-high 34 assists and added seven goals. The senior picked up 19 groundballs and caused six turnovers. He finished fourth in career assists (99) and second in games started with 54.
Schweizer (Darien, Conn./Darien) makes his way onto the All-CC Team for the second time, earning Second Team honors last year. He collected 24 groundballs and caused seven turnovers. The senior helped anchor a defense that ranked second in the conference, allowing just 7.17 goals per game.
F&M finished the year with a 10-5 record, marking the first time the Diplomats have won 10 or more games since 2003.
