Corsini Nets Golden Goal For Dips

LANCASTER, Pa. - Defender Eric Corsini netted the game-winning goal in the 88th minute off a pass from Matt Melino to lead Franklin & Marshall over Cabrini 2-1 in non-conference men's soccer action on Tuesday night.

The Diplomats (3-4) scored two unanswered goals, each just minutes before the end of each half to collect their third win of the season. Eric Noto tallied the other goal for F&M, while Guiseppe Bua added the assist.

The Cavaliers' (4-2-1) Andrew Jacobs tallied the lone goal in the first half off an assist from Brian Moran for a 1-0 lead at the 24:56 mark.

Noto got the equalizer and his first goal of the season, heading in the ball off a corner kick taken by Bua in the 44th minute to make it 1-all by intermission.

Both teams had a chance to take the lead in the second half, with Troy Allen sending his shot just wide in the 79th minute for Cabrini. Eric Elicker fired a shot from 30 yards out and had the ball graze the crossbar with 6:05 left in the game.

Corsini put the Diplomats ahead for good with a shot from the left post into the right corner thanks to Melino's pass across the center of the box for the golden goal.

F&M edged the Cavaliers by one in shots and corner kicks, posting nine shots and six corners. Zack Zamek posted two saves for the Diplomats

F&M returns to action on Sunday against Washington in CC action. Game time is 3:30 p.m.
