WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - Andrew DeMaio joined Charlie Welch and Graham Mandl in the scoring category while also adding an assist to lead Franklin & Marshall men's soccer team over Lycoming 3-2 in non-conference action on Saturday.

The Warriors (2-2-1) opened the scoring first, but the Diplomats (2-2) tallied the next three goals and held off Lycoming down the stretch to post their second win of the season.

Both goalkeepers Matt Klipp and F&M's Zach Zamek each made two saves on the day.

Zach Frederick took just 2:25 to give the Warriors an early 1-0 lead, beating two defenders and finding the back of the net. The Diplomats quickly responded with a goal in the fifth minute from  Welch, who deflected the ball off a defender and was given an open look to make it 1-all.

Both teams battled for 70 scoreless minutes until DeMaio struck at the 74:13 mark, sending his shot to the lower right corner off a pass from Rodrigo Nogales to take the lead for good.

Mandl, who came off the bench, netted his first collegiate goal four minutes later thanks to DeMaio dishing off the pass after a Lycoming turnover.

The Warriors added their second goal in the 82nd minute from Chris Burgess, however, they could not get the equalizer before time expired.

F&M travels to Frostburg State on Wednesday to take on the Bobcats. Game time is 7 p.m.
