ALLENTOWN, Pa. - Brendan Carroll and Cody Antonini each scored in the second half, just three minutes, 16 seconds apart to lift Muhlenberg over Franklin & Marshall 2-0 in Centennial Conference (CC) men's soccer opener for both teams on Saturday night.
The Mules (4-2, 1-0 CC) held a 13-5 shot advantage, capitalizing on two of the seven second-half shots to pick up their first win over the Diplomats (2-4, 0-1 CC) since the 2003 season.
Zack Zamek tallied two stops for F&M and Joseph Gogel only needed to make one save for Muhlenberg.
Samuel Hayden sent the ball in off a free kick and Carroll was there for the header to give the Mules a 1-0 lead at the 59:36 mark. In the 63rd minute, Antonini lofted the ball over Zamek off a diagonal cross from Billy Dalton.
The Diplomats return to action on Tuesday night against Cabrini. Game time is 7 p.m.
