The Centennial Conference (CC) win improved the Diplomats to 7-1-3, 3-0-1 CC on the year while the Mules fell to 3-5-2, 1-2-1 CC.

With just five minutes remaining in the second overtime, Ryan Fincher sent a long throw-in that made its way into the middle of the box. Wyatt Fabian headed the ball out to Whitacre, who bounced in a left-footed tally to the bottom corner of the net.

F&M opened the scoring in the 30th minute of the first half when Ugo Okolie found Jason Tonelli in the 18-yard box with a cross from the left side. Tonelli finished the play with a shot into the lower right of the goal for his team-leading seventh of the season.

Alex Bilodeau tacked on for the Diplomats in the 53rd minute of the second half to give F&M a comfortable 2-0 edge, connecting on a header that was the result of a Fincher corner to the far post.

However, the Mules refused to quit, pulling within one in the 65th minute when Anthony Carracino caught the F&M defense off guard with a left-footed strike from 25 yards out to the top-left corner.

Ten minutes later, Muhlenberg capped off the comeback bid when a foul in the box led to a Christian Wieland penalty kick goal to even the score at 2-2.

Overtime number one was filled with scoring opportunities from both sides in the opening minutes, but the Diplomats began to control the pace late. Shots were even at 3-3 in the stanza before F&M put away the game in the second overtime with the lone shot of the period.

Dave Reingold (7-1-3) picked up the win in net, turning back three shots on the day, while his counterpart Alex Tomko (2-3-2) was dealt the loss after picking up four saves.

Shots narrowly favored the Diplomats at 15-14 along with corners at 6-2. Tonelli led the offense with four shots, followed by Okolie with three.

F&M returns to non-conference competition on Wednesday, traveling to Stevens for a 7:00 p.m. matchup.
