LANCASTER, Pa. - Three members of the Franklin & Marshall men's soccer team have been named to the 2007 National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/adidas Division III Mid-Atlantic All-Region Team.
Senior forward Brandon Corday repeats as a first-team choice, while senior forward Ryan McGonigle and senior defender Jason Keil were selected to the second team.
Corday became the first player in Centennial Conference (CC) history to garner back-to-back Player of the Year honors and fourth to be selected to the first team all four years. He is a four-time All-Region choice, earning second team accolades as a freshman and being named to the third team as a sophomore.
Corday scored 10 goals and dished out six helpers to break the school's all-time assists record with 25 for his career. He also sits third in F&M history for most career goals with 31.
McGonigle and Keil are receiving their first All-Region honors on the second team, after being named to the All-CC first team. McGonigle led the team with 16 goals and six assists for 38 points, setting the single-season record for most points. He was named the CC Player of the Week on Sept. 10 and was selected as the Outstanding Offensive Performer at the Blue Jay Classic. Keil anchored a defense that recorded 11 shutouts and only allowed 14 goals this season, while ranking as high as 11th in goals against average. He started every game and tallied one goal.
The Diplomats returned to the NCAA tournament for the second straight year, finishing with a 15-4 mark and setting the record for most wins in a season. During that stretch, F&M went undefeated at home during the regular season for the second consecutive year and reached as high as No. 9 in the NSCAA Division III national coaches poll. Statistically, the team posted the second most points in a season with 117 (44g, 29a) and the 29 assists ranks third.
