Men's Squash Streak at Eight

St. Lawrence Agate | Northeastern Agate | Bowdoin Agate | Bates Agate

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - #16 Franklin & Marshall's men's squash team swept its way through the weekend with four wins, including three at the Yale Round Robin. The Diplomats upset two teams ranked above them, #11 Bates and #13 Bowdoin, to run their winning streak out to eight consecutive matches.

F&M (9-2) swept #13 Bowdoin 9-0 and edged out #11 Bates 5-4 to halt two match skids against the respective opponents. The wins helped F&M to its second perfect run at the Yale Round Robin in as many years under head coach John White.

The Diplomats unveiled the newest addition to its lineup in Brazilian junior champion Gabriel de Melo at #2. deMelo (4-0) was one of three Fummers to roll through four matches undefeated on the weekend. #1 Nadaav Tannen and #3 Sadiq Madraswala also went unscathed. Tannen (9-1) has not fallen in a match since his debut in a Diplomats' uniform, while Madraswala has won six-straight outings.

Shane Slater moved into the top 30 in career victories at F&M during his 2-2 weekend. He has 46 wins on his career, tying him with three former Diplomats for 30th in total victories.

The Diplomats remained undefeated against St. Lawrence through the third meeting between the schools. The Diplomats won that Friday night meeting 6-3. F&M met Northeastern University for the first time on the squash courts, picking up a 9-0 win on Saturday.

The Diplomats will look to run the streak to ten straight on Wednesday night, though that will be a tall order. F&M hosts #7 Penn at 7 p.m. The match will be aired live on B2 Networks.
