#10 Diplomats Cruise Through Weekend Slate
Franklin & Marshall’s men’s squash team ran through the opposition on a 3-0 weekend. The 10th-ranked Diplomats (5-2) only dropped two games on their first full road weekend of the season. F&M posted 8-1 wins over #11 Williams and #16 St. Lawrence, then swept Hamilton 9-0 on Sunday to put a bow on the weekend.
Friday night’s win over Williams was the Diplomats’ first against the Ephs since the 1996-1997 season. Williams had taken seven-straight from F&M. The Saturday win against St. Lawrence avenged a 5-4 loss a year ago. It was the only time F&M has ever lost to the Saints on the squash courts. The 9-0 win over Hamilton moved the Diplomats to 9-0 overall against the Continentals.
Sujat Barua (6-1), Jack Cutler (3-0 – 1-0 exh.), Juan Lopez (4-1), Guilherme de Melo (5-2), Justin Singh (5-2), and Aadit Zaveri (5-2) extended their winning streaks to four-straight. Gabriel de Melo, who rested on Sunday, won a pair to move his streak to three-in-a-row. Chris Gagnier (3-1) went 3-0 on the weekend.
The Diplomats go into the semester break with a record of 5-2 for the second time in the John White era. F&M returns to action on January 14th at Amherst.
