Diplomats Edged by Virginia in Season Opener

LANCASTER, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall's No. 15 ranked men's squash team battled No. 17 Virginia in the 2017-18 season opener, falling by a hard-fought 5-4 score on Sunday in Mayser. 

The Diplomats fell to 0-1 on the year while the Cavaliers improved to 1-1. 

By the Numbers 

F&M found success at the top of the lineup with wins in three of the top-five positions on the ladder. Sanjay Jeeva (No. 1) won by a 3-1 score in his collegiate debut. Virginia swept the No. 7-9 spots, which proved to be the difference in the competition.

Six of the nine matchups went past three games, including Boden Polikoff's 3-2 marathon contest at No. 5.
