Diplomats Stay In Third
GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall picked up a silver and bronze medal on the second day of the Centennial Conference Championship Saturday. The Diplomats (384) maintained the third place team spot trailing Dickinson (431) and Gettysburg (578).
David Fell brought home the bronze medal for F&M in the 100 backstroke swimming to a 52.63. The Diplomats only other medal came from the 800 free relay team of Fell, Dennis Chen, Jake Reingold, and John Zipp earning a silver with a time of 6:59.58. Jin Hwang, Patrick Musselman, Tim Landon, and Richard Denton finished 10th at 7:07.92.
Landon placed fourth in the 400 IM touching at a time of 4:14.56, while Travis Catania swam to seventh at 4:19.11. Max Blum took 11th with a 4:25.67. Swarthmore, Ursinus, and Gettysburg all earned medals in the event.
Three Diplomats placed in the top 16 in the 100 butterfly, Denton (52.60, 9th), Zach Wilt (53.58, 11th), and Scott Rownd (55.56, 16th). F&M also placed three swimmers in the top eight of the 200 free, Zipp (1:43.59, 4th), Chen (1:44.25, 7th), and Reingold (1:44.76, 8th). Hwang took 16th with a time of 1:48.49.
Anella (1:00.46) and Cappuccio (1:01.27) swam to a top ten finishes in the 100 breaststroke, taking sixth and 10th respectively.
Ursinus (350) and Swarthmore (261) round out the top five in the team standings.
Swimming resumes Sunday morning at 10 a.m.
