Diplomats Take Third at CC Championship
GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall earned a third place finish in the Centennial Conference (CC) Championships. The Diplomats (555) finished behind Dickinson (624) and Gettysburg (846). F&M earned two gold medals, six silver, and six bronze medals for the weekend.
Tim Landon added a gold medal to his silver in the 1,650 free taking first with a time of 16:30.03. Paul Edwards touched at 17:09.37 to place eighth, Max Blum (17:21.57) placed 10th, and Brian Rackson took 12th with a 17:33.21.
David Fell earned his fifth medal; second silver for the weekend in the 200 backstroke. Fell placed second with a NCAA 'B' Cut time of 1:52.99, teammate Richard Denton finished in the top eight taking seventh at 1:58.72.
Billy Cappuccio was fifth in the 200 breaststroke with a 2:14.19 and Travis Catania came in 11th at 2:15.97. Eliot Scymanski (2:00.75) and Mason Wash (2:01.12) went 10th and 12th in the 200 butterfly.
Four swimmers finished nine through 16th in the 100 free. John Zipp led the way taking ninth with a 47.25, Dennis Chen (47.74) took 11th, Zach Wilt (47.94) finished 12th, and Jin Hwang (48.59) placed 16th.
The 400 free relay team of Wilt, Fell, Chen, and Zipp took the bronze with a 3:08.00 finishing behind Dickinson and Gettysburg. Jake Reingold, Hwang, Denton, and Patrick Musselman took 10th at 3:12.52.
