F&M Falls to Washington in Opener

LANCASTER, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall was downed by Washington College by a score of 162-98 in both teams' opener on Saturday afternoon in Centennial Conference (CC) action. The Diplomats slipped to 0-1, 0-1 CC, while the Shoremen improved to 1-0, 1-0 CC.

Senior Dennis Chen finished first in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 49.43 and took second in the 200-yard freestyle at 1:48.47.

Freshman Ryan Caffrey added a first-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle at 22.48, while Richard Denton placed second in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:05.25.

In the 1000-yard freestyle, Andreas Lair Ferrari finished second (10:31.26), while Patrick Greaney placed third (10:33.15).

Eric Lang picked up two first-place victories on the day, winning the 100-yard breastroke at (1:01.43) before taking the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:01.38.

F&M returns to the pool on Saturday when the Diplomats travel to Swarthmore for a 2:00 p.m. meet.
