LANCASTER, Pa. – Gettysburg raced out to an early lead and never looked back on Saturday afternoon, spoiling Senior Day for Franklin & Marshall by handing the Diplomats a 148-111 defeat in Centennial Conference (CC) men's swimming. F&M fell to 3-6, 2-4 CC with the defeat.
-Eric Dietrich-Peterson topped the podium in two events on the day, sweeping the butterfly events. He posted a time of 1:58.92 to win the 200-yard butterfly, before taking the 100-yard edition in 51.64. In the 100 he was followed by Daniel Sanders, who took third in 53.60.
-Timothy Gould raced to a victory of his own in the 100-yard backstroke, touching the wall in 53.73.
-Gould finished his sweep of the backstroke events in the 200, again taking first with a time of 1:57.92.
-F&M's final individual victory came in the 200-yard IM, as Eric Lang took top honors with a time of 2:02.45. Caffrey cruised into second place with a mark of 2:03.23 in the event.
Other Notable Performances
-Caffrey continued his strong day in the 200-yard breaststroke, again taking second in 2:17.53. Lang was close behind, earning third with a time of 2:20.48.
-Lang rounded out his day in the 100-yard breaststroke, taking third in 1:01.61.
-Keith Kamons logged a pair of third-place finishes in the sprint freestyle events, beginning with a time of 22.44 in the 50-yard freestyle. He repeated the feat in the 100, marking a time of 49.93.
-Matthew Pozmanter reached the podium as well, taking third in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:41.56.
The Diplomats return home on Saturday for the final weekend of the regular season, hosting the McGinness Invitational at 11:00 a.m.
