F&M Sends Nine To Day One Finals

LANCASTER, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall men's swimming advanced nine to the finals after the first session of competition at the Centennial Conference (CC) Championships. This morning featured preliminary heats in the 500-yard freestyle, 200-yard IM, and 50-yard freestyle, with finals in those three events as well as the 200-yard freestyle relay and 400-yard medley relay scheduled for this evening.

Eric Lang paced the Diplomats in their best showing of the morning, the 200-yard IM. Lang earned a spot in the A final, qualifying fifth with a time of 1:55.49. Jonathon Sinton (ninth, 1:56.46), Ryan Caffrey (13th, 1:58.18), and Jack Currie (16th, 1:58.64) all booked places in the B final.

Three more Diplomats will compete tonight in the finals of the 50-yard freestyle, led by Eric Dietrich-Peterson who qualified 10th with a time of 21.69 in his first appearance at the conference championships. Daniel Sanders qualified 13th with a time of 21.78 and Keith Kamons finished 16th in 21.86 to round out F&M's spots in the B final.

Reeves Connolly and Richard Perry earned spots in the B final of the 500-yard freestyle. Connolly's time of 4:49.01 was good for 13th, while Perry finished in 4:50.23 to take 15th.

Tonight's final are scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m.
