LANCASTER, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall men's swimming is set to host the Centennial Conference (CC) Championships this weekend, beginning with the first of seven sessions on Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m. Preliminary heats will be conducted during the morning sessions, followed by finals in the evening, with the last session scheduled for Sunday night. The Diplomats are seeking a ninth team championship and their first since 2010.

Championship History

Gettysburg leads all schools with 14 titles in the Conference's 23 years of history while F&M stands at eight, with the Diplomats' last victory occurring in 2010.

Last year, Swarthmore became the third school to win the title, tallying 720 team points. Gettysburg finished second (600), followed by Ursinus (third, 533), and F&M (fourth, 492).

Medal Hunt

F&M looks for a dominant showing from its relay teams as the 200-yard Medley Relay (1:33.14), 200-yard Freestyle Relay (1:24.18), and the 400-yard Medley Relay (3:23.14) are all seeded in the top spot.

After bringing home bronze in both the 100-yard and 200-yard Butterfly, Eric Dietrich-Peterson is on the hunt for the gold with the top time in the 100-yard (50.27) and the second time in the 200-yard (1:54.92). Cody Kalinowski is seeded 12th in the 100 Fly at 53.83 and 11th in the 200 Fly (2:00.65).

After setting a new program-record in the 100-yard Freestyle, freshman Christopher Schiavone looks to put his mark on the freestyle sprints, coming in at second for the 50-yard Freestyle (20.61) and second for the 100-yard Freestyle (45.85). Schiavone is joined by Dietrich-Peterson in the top-10 for the 50-yard Freestyle (sixth, 21.54).

Senior leaders Ryan Caffrey and Eric Lang look to hold their own in the Individual Medley events as well as the Breaststroke events. After taking home gold in the 100-yard Breaststroke in 2015, Caffrey looks to get back on the podium with the second seed spot (58.31). For the 200-yard Individual Medley, Caffrey currently sits seventh (1:58.75), while Lang, who took home the silver in 2015 and gold in 2016 in the same event, is close behind at ninth (1:59.11).

Alec Wahl enters his first Champs with two top-five times in the 100-yard Backstroke (second, 51.83) and the 200-yard Backstroke (fourth, 1:54.79). Wahl is joined by last years 100-yard Backstroke bronze medalist in Timothy Gould, who currently sits fifth in both the 100-yard Backstroke (53.36) and 200-yard Backstroke (1:57.76).

Updated Championship Format: Beginning this year, the CC Championship event now spans four days. Thursday evening will have two relays, the 200 Medley, and 800 Freestyle, then Friday-Sunday will only have one relay per day. This format is modeled after DI Championships to allow sufficient rest between relays and individual events so that athletes can perform to the best of their capabilities.
