HOUSTON - Franklin & Marshall senior Jenna Walters advanced to this evening's 500-yard freestyle final at the NCAA Division III Women's Swimming Championships. The weekend-long championships are being hosted by the University of Houston. Walters earned the right to compete for the national championship in the event with time of 5:01.73.
That time also assured her an eighth All-America honor, having previously attained the label in the 200 and 500-yard freestyle in 2004, 2005, and 2006, as well as in the 100-yard freestyle at last year's championship.
Emily Psaris, a freshman from Emory (Ga.) swam the top mark in the 500 free, touching the wall at 4:58.64.
While Walters advanced to the finals, teammates Kelly Landman and Brittany McCabe each posted personal records in their respective events. Landman recorded a time of 2:10.88 on the 200-yard individual medley preliminaries, and McCabe finished the 50-free in 25.24.
