Rothman and Samuels Set Pace at ITA Regionals

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – Franklin & Marshall's Jack Rothman and Will Samuels were just shy of the quarterfinal round in Championship Doubles after winning a pair of matchups at last weekend's ITA Southeast Regional Championships, hosted by Mary Washington.

Rothman and Samuels first took down Robert Alexander and Jan Lasota of Catholic University by an 8-5 score in the round of 64. The duo then took on Centennial rivals John Hopkins and won 8-5 against Alex Matisse and Colin Muraika. Rothman and Samuels eventually fell to Thomas Harmon and March Zheng from W&L by an 8-4 score. 

Both Rothman and Samuels also competed for the Diplomats in the Championship Singles bracket.

Rothman looked to make some headway in the singles flight, first defeating Zachary Shane of Lynchburg 6-0, 6-4, but then fell to Courtney Murphy from Wilkes in the round of 32, 6-2, 7-5. 

Samuels lost in the round of 64 to Harry Shepherd of W&L 6-3, 6-4.

The Diplomats are set to return to action in the spring.
