F&M Competes at West Chester Open and Paul Kaiser Classic

WEST CHESTER/SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – Several members of the Franklin & Marshall men's track and field team competed at the West Chester Open on Friday, while a few Diplomats participated in the Paul Kaiser Classic, hosted by Shippensburg, on Saturday. Both days featured non-scoring events.

In West Chester, F&M was led by Michael Hoffman who placed first in the 110-hurldes (15.14) and the 400-hurdles (57.22). Brad Krell crossed third in the 400-meter at 52.99, while Michael Whalen finished third in the 1500-meter run with a time of 4:20.20. 

A team of Mohamed Bah, George Pekeshe, Krell, and Jinxin Chen won the 4x400 relay at 3:32.97, while Bah was sixth in the 800-meter run (2:07.54) and Chen was sixth in the 200-meter at 24.47.

Logan Lewis added another first-place spot for F&M, as the freshman's throw of 49'-2.25" in the shot put was good for the win, while Vincent Acosta placed fourth with a distance of 43'-7.75". In the discus throw, Lewis and Vincent tied for fourth with throws of 134'-7". Ryan Kozloski added a third place showing in the javelin at 167'-4". 

At the Paul Kaiser Classic, Luk Olenginski finished third in the 800-meter run (1:54.53), while Greg Olenginski (1:55.00) and Derek Pawlush (1:55.42) placed fifth and seventh, respectively. 

The Diplomats return to action next weekend at the Centennial Conference (CC) Outdoor Championships, hosted by Muhlenberg.
