Millersville Grabs Rupp Cup
Feb 20, 2009
LANCASTER, Pa. - The 197-pound bout was the difference maker as Millersville took the Rupp Cup from Franklin & Marshall (5-12) for the second year in a row. The Marauders (9-8) got a pin from Raymond Bennet at that weight to secure a 23-18 win in the crosstown rivalry.
Colin Ely and Bennet traded takedowns and reversals before Bennet caught the Diplomats' freshman with 31 seconds left in the second period, securing the Millersville win. The two teams split the eight weight classes wrestled.
Stephen Sabreen, Justin Herbert and Jimmy Schulz each picked up decisions for the Diplomats, while Millersville got a tech fall and a pin in the victory.
F&M is idle for two weeks until the Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association (EIWA) Championships at Penn.
