BOONE, N.C. - Matt Fullowan's victory at 174-pounds was the only cushion between Franklin & Marshall (0-7-1) and a shutout at Appalachian State (3-8) on Sunday. The victory was the lone bright spot in a 49-4 loss.
Fullowan posted an 11-2 major decision over John Blakely in the afternoon's final bout. With his team in a 49-0 hole, the Diplomats' sophomore was taken down early, but went unscored upon the rest of the way. After an escape, he took Blakely down for the lead and coasted to the win from there. Fullowan improved to 16-7 with the win.
Franklin & Marshall returns to action in two weeks for the season's first home dual meet. The Diplomats will face Columbia on January 30. F&M should do so with 133-pounder, Jake Bucha, and heavyweight, Dan Canfield, back in the lineup.
