Campbell Topples Diplomat Grapplers
LANCASTER, Pa. -- Campbell won four of the six matches contested to pick up a 33-15 win over Franklin & Marshall Friday evening. The Diplomats (0-9) surrendered three weights, while the Camels (3-15) forfeited 165 pounds.
Jake Bucha (24-4) picked up his eighth career pin and fifth of the season at 133 pounds, decking Tanner Bidelspach in the second period. Bucha's 71st career victory offset the six-point hole from the forfeit at 125, but Campbell swept 149 through 157 before yielding 165 to F&M's Anthony Bongarzone.
Matt Fullowan got F&M back within four points, 19-15, posting a 6-4 decision on Peter Comis. It was Fullowan's second win over Comis this season and the 45th victory of his career.
John Merickle ended the run with an 11-3 major decision over Colin Lahiff, who gave a gutsy effort wrestling up two weight classes. The Camels closed out the night with wins at 197 and 285.
The Diplomats return to action on Sunday at Sacred Heart. F&M should have several more bodies back in the lineup for the match.
