NEWARK, Del.- The University of Delaware hosted their annual
Blue & Gold Invitational at White Clay Creek State Park
Saturday afternoon. Greg Duckloe paced the Diplomats to a second
place team finish, finishing sixth overall.
The 8k course was host to 76 runners from Division II and III
schools. Duckloe's top ten finish was ran in a time of 27:17 and he
averaged a 5:29 mile. Angelo Acre came across the finish line just
outside the top ten, placing 11th with a time of 27:53. Following
Acre was teammate Ryan Bell placing 12th with a time of 28:17.
Josh Wesalo and Tim Merlino paced each other during the race
finishing four seconds apart. Wesalo placed 15th with a time of
28:41 and Merlino placed 16th running a time of 28:45. Erik Olsen
paced the middle of the pack for the Diplomats placing 22nd with a
time of 29:03.
Franklin & Marshall placed second overall out of nine teams.
The Diplomats missed first place by five points to Gwnedd-Mercy.
F&M had an average team time of 28:11.
The Diplomats will compete at the Centennial Conference
Championship in Baltimore on Saturday. Start of the race is set for
11:00 AM.
