Diplomats To Hold Second Annual Pink Zone Game
LANCASTER, Pa. – The Franklin & Marshall women’s
basketball team will hold its second annual WBCA PinkZone game
(formerly known as Think Pink) on Feb. 14, 2009 when the Diplomats
take on Bryn Mawr at 2 p.m. Admission is free and donations are
welcome at the door.
Last year, F&M raised over $550 for the Kay Yow/WBCA Cancer
Fund thanks to fans donations. On Saturday, the Diplomats will be
wearing pink t-shirts during the warm-up to show their support and
challenge fans to wear pink to the game in honor of breast cancer
survivors. The day will also feature the honoring of seniors in
their final home game.
The WBCA began the Pink Zone, formerly known as "Think Pink," in
2007 as an initiative to raise breast cancer awareness in women's
basketball, on campuses and in communities. In 2007, more than 120
schools unified and helped make the inaugural year a success. In
2008, over 1,200 teams and organizations participated, reaching
over 830,000 fans and raising over $930,000 for breast cancer
awareness and research.
