YORK, Pa. - April Sparkman posted a double-double with a game-high 14 points and 10 rebounds, while Chanel Perez also added 14 points to lead York over Franklin & Marshall 68-45 in the championship game of the 2009 Hampton Inn Coaches vs. Cancer Classic on Sunday.

The Spartans (10-1) have now won a school-record 10 straight wins enroute to their fifth consecutive in-season tournament title. Keli Ward chipped in eight points and game-high 10 assists.

For the second game in a row, Alison Menna tallied 10 points for the Diplomats (4-5) to earn All-Tournament Team honors. Sarah Meisenberg was also in double figures with 10 points.

York opened the contest with a 22-6 run and finishing the first half with a 35-19 lead to take control and set the pace for the game enroute to the championship crown. In the first three minutes, Sparkman scored five of the Spartans 10 points while limiting F&M to just two and holding the Diplomats to just four points until the 11:05 mark.

Meisenberg managed to get two more points from the charity stripe and Menna drove in for the layup to make it 22-8 in favor of the hosts. York kept its distance, only allowing 11 more points while scoring 13 for a 16-point margin at the half.

The Spartans pushed the lead to 28 points in the first five minutes of the second half, not giving F&M any room to come back. York took its biggest lead with 3:28 left to play off a jumper from Val Hudson to make it 66-38.

The Spartans only committed 13 turnovers, while forcing 21 and held a 47-34 advantage on the boards.

Amanda Miceli and Cara Landolfi both contributed eight points for the Diplomats.

F&M returns to action on Wednesday against Swarthmore. Game time is 6 p.m.
