Diplomats Fall to Bullets

LANCASTER, Pa. - Gettysburg used a 14-3 scoring run to end the first half to spark a 69-39 win over Franklin & Marshall Wednesday night in a Centennial Conference (CC) game. The loss is the second consecutive for the Diplomats (5-2 overall, 2-2 CC) while the Bullets (7-0, 4-0) remained unbeaten.

It was the 61st meeting between the two schools with the Diplomats sweeping the previous two contests.

Trailing 8-0 early in the game, F&M fought back to get as close as 23-22 with 7:48 left in the first. Beth Holt scored all of her team-high eight points in the first 11 minutes of the game for F&M. She was matched by Caitlin Moser, who scored 10 of her game-high 21 points, in the first which helped give the Bullets a 37-25 lead at the break.

Gettysburg entered the game surrendering just 42.5 points per game and its defense didn't let down against the Diplomats. The Bullets forced 23 turnovers, including 15 steals, which led to 21 points and held F&M to its lowest scoring output of the season.

Gettysburg held a 40-23 rebound advantage and cashed that in with 20 second-chance points.

Alexa Barbush chipped in with seven points for the Diplomats with teammates Amy Chabitnoy and Collen Bott each scoring six points.

Moser grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds for the Bullets to finish with a double-double while Mary Spicer and Courtney Field pumped in 14 and 11 points respectively.

The Diplomats return to the court Saturday when the travel to Muhlenberg. Tip-off is 2 p.m.
