Diplomats Win Terry Greene Memorial

LANCASTER, Pa. - In a game that saw five lead changes and the scored tied three times, it was the Franklin & Marshall women's basketball team that came away with a 60-53 victory over Elizabethtown at the 2009 Terry Greene Memorial Tournament. The win marks the first time since 2003 that the Diplomats (2-0) have defeated the Blue Jays (1-3).
 
The second half was a battle with four lead changes and three ties as each team countered the other's scoring run.  The Diplomats went up for good on a three-pointer by Beth Holt at 8:29, making the score 46-44.  The Blue Jays answered, coming within a point on a Teanna Ziegler layup with 3:22 left in the game. The Diplomats answered with an 8-2 run to finish the game.
 
F&M only trailed once in the first half and led by as much as 11 points, taking 31-28 led into halftime.  Megan Pauley scored 12 for the Diplomats and Megan Strohman added 12 for Elizabethtown.
 
Pauley scored a game-high 23 points going 8-for-16 from the floor and 7-for-9 at the line. Holt chipped in 19 points, shooting 5-for-8 from behind the arc and 6-for-12 from the field.  Emily Johnson and Alexa Barbush add four points apiece for the Diplomats.
 
Strohman led the Blue Jays with 18 points and eight rebounds and Kaity Snyder added 14 for Elizabethtown.
 
Holt was named the tournament MVP. She scored 39 points over the weekend with a 12-for-24 performance from the field and shooting 7-for-13 from downtown. Pauley was named to the All-Tournament team.
 
Franklin & Marshall returns to action on November 24th with the Diplomats travel to Washington (Md.) for their Centennial Conference (CC) opener.
